I’ve been rereading Deathly Hallows.
There is soo much that I forgot I love about this book. And the more I read it, the more scared I get about the movie. There is just no way they could ever fully do this book justice for me. I know it’ll be good, but it could never compare.
- Kingsley’s patronus message during the wedding: “The Ministry has fallen. Scrimgeour is dead. They are coming.” AHHHHHH.
- Potterwatch. At that point in the book, the trio has been so secluded for so long, its such a relief to hear news from the outside world. It lifts my spirits when I read it as much as it lifts Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s.
- Luna’s ceiling painting. I thought it was adorable and it would be SO awesome to see it come alive on screen. I hope they put that in the film.
- Hermione’s general awesomeness. I don’t care if Ron is Harry’s best friend. Hermione is a much better friend than Ron has EVER been. She stayed loyal to Harry, even when times got tough. She saved their asses multiple times, modified her parents memories to make them forget they even had a daughter, and was just generally amazing throughout the entire series. I don’t think she got nearly enough of the credit she deserved.
- Kreacher. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. If you asked me who I loved more, Kreacher or Dobby, I would say Kreacher. He is the most underestimated character, who plays such a key role. And when he hits Mundungus Fletcher with a frying pan, fucking priceless.
- The random reappearance of Umbridge. I remember when I first read the scene where they realized Umbridge had the locket, my jaw dropped. It’s like, who would have thought that BITCH would end up a horcrux.
Despicable Me / Inception
So yesterday my friends and I were going to go see Inception, but somehow managed to screw up the movie time & ended up missing it. Instead we went to see Despicable Me, because it got awesome reviews and we’d heard good things about it.
Maybe it’s just because I’m not a fan of animated movies anymore. Like, I saw Up not too long ago, and besides the beginning, when it shows the adorable evolution of the old married couple growing up together, I found it to be a little overrated. But anyway, I wasn’t really impressed with Despicable Me. It might have been because we were so pumped to finally understand the hype around Inception, but I dunno. I just found it to be predictable, and a mixture of many other great animated movies I’ve seen. So about halfway into it, we left and snuck into Inception and watched the last 30 minutes.
It was hilarious. We were so confused because we’d missed the entire plot line. And it kept switching back in forth from Leo & Ellen, running around in white suits, to Joeseph Gordan-Levitt floating around in an elevator, ahaha. Everytime he came on screen we started cracking up because we had no idea what the fuck he was doing.
“oh, so they’re in the bus!”
“no, look! they’re in the elevator!”
“THEY’RE IN THE BUS”
“wait, are they in the dream now?”
“THEY CAN’T BE IN 3 PLACES AT ONCE”
“YES THEY CAN, I’M TELLING YOU THEY ARE IN THE ELEVATOR”
“……………Ok, wut. Why are they on a plane now?”
I should probably actually pay and watch the whole movie, but I am pretty sure our theories of what went down are even better, ahaha.
